How to Use the Annotation Filter

Would you like to customize what suggestions Pozotron will show you in the Proofing Section? This article will show you how to do that using the Annotation Filter.

What is the Annotation Filter?

This feature allows you to hide certain types of annotations flagged by Pozotron in a project.

Watch this short tutorial or follow along with the article to learn how to use it.

Using the Annotation Filter

Let's say you'd like to remove all of the "Noise Detected" annotations from your project.

From the Proofing page, select the Annotation Filter button

You will then be prompted with this page:

Follow the instructions and select which type of annotation you'd like to filter out.

  • Misreads - Instances where the narrator mispronounces a word or substitutes it with a different word
  • Inserted Words - Words spoken by the narrator that are not present in the script
  • Missed Words - Words present in the script but not spoken by the narrator
  • Pauses - Periods of silence in the audio file lasting two seconds or more
  • Noises - Any background noise, audio clipping, or other unwanted sounds in the recording

In this example, I've selected Noises and then Filter.

Pozotron will then tell you how many words will be ignored and ask you to confirm:

Clicking OK will filter these words!

Now, when proofing a chapter, I'll see that any Noise-detected annotations have already been filtered out.

Setting a "Minimum Word" Parameter

You can further customize which annotations are filtered out by setting a Minimum Word count.

This allows you to focus on bigger mistakes, where more words are misread, added, or missed in narration.

For example, if I set this minimum word count to 3, it will automatically filter out any mistakes that contain less than three words.

However, mistakes with 3 or more words will still be flagged.

Example:

Here, we've told Pozotron to filter out all Misreads, Inserted Words, and Missed Words

I've also set the minimum word count to 3.

Pozotron has now ignored all annotations of that type with less than 3 words.

Before:

After:

You can see some of the annotations have been filtered out.

The line with "that should be narrated," is still showing up since it has more than 3 words.
